Workspaces

Workspaces are the core of MarketGeist. Each workspace is a focused research hub dedicated to a specific market, company, or strategic decision — bringing together AI reports, competitor analysis, visual canvases, and conversational intelligence in one place.

Explain Like I'm 5
Think of a workspace like a detective's case board. Each case (workspace) is about one mystery — maybe "Who are our competitors in the robot vacuum market?" or "Should we expand into Brazil?" You pin clues (intelligence reports), connect them with string (the canvas), talk to your partner about what it all means (AI chat), and eventually crack the case (make a decision). You can have as many case boards as you need — one per mystery.

What Does a Workspace Do?

A workspace bundles all the research related to one topic. Instead of scattered reports, bookmarks, and spreadsheets, you have a single source of truth. When you open a workspace, you see a Canvas for visual mapping, a Reports tab for structured intelligence, a Chat panel for asking questions, and a Decisions tab for tracking what you've decided.

Why It Matters

Eliminates research sprawl — all intelligence for one decision lives in one place
Speeds up team alignment — share a workspace link and everyone sees the same data
Enables iterative research — add new intelligence nodes as questions emerge, building a richer picture over time
Creates an audit trail — every report, chat, and decision is logged for future reference
Supports multiple parallel initiatives — run competitive analysis for Product A while simultaneously researching market entry for Region B

How to Create a Workspace

1

Navigate to Dashboard → Workspace

Click the "Workspace" item in the sidebar. This opens your workspace list — the home screen for all your research initiatives.

2

Click "New Workspace"

Enter a descriptive name (e.g., "European EV Charging Market" or "Competitor Deep Dive — Acme Corp"). Good names make it easy to find workspaces later.

3

Open the workspace

Click on the newly created workspace card. You'll land on the Canvas view — a blank board ready for intelligence nodes.

4

Start adding intelligence

Use the tool palette on the left to drag intelligence nodes onto the canvas — Market Report, Competitor Analysis, SEO Audit, and more. Each node triggers AI-powered research.

Managing Workspaces

From the workspace list, you can set a default workspace (which opens automatically when you log in), delete workspaces you no longer need, or click any card to jump into that workspace's canvas. The list shows a summary of each workspace's intelligence nodes and creation date so you can quickly identify the right one.

Pro Tip
Name your workspaces after the decisionyou're trying to make, not just the topic. "Should we enter the Brazilian fintech market?" is more actionable than "Brazil fintech research." This keeps your team focused on outcomes.

Inside a Workspace

Each workspace has four main areas. Click any of the links below to learn more about each one.
